STAYING MOTIVATED AT 50+
One of the biggest problems we all face when we get older is that fact that we
often lack motivation. When we reach our 50's we are expected to start slowing
down, we now get to choose from the special vitamins shelf for the 50+
category, we can start to empathize with the Grumpy Old Men & Women on TV.
45 mins of that program and you start to feel your age. This all adds to our
lack of motivation "we start to feel old before our time... we just cant be
botherd.".
If someone suggest going for a run, that voice inside your
heard says you are past all that running malarky. Well not me my friend I have
found my motivation. Just remember the hardest thing is actually putting your
kit and strapping a pair of running shoes to your feet, the rest is easy. The
next hurdle is to stay motivated. So where does the motivation come
from?
It can be different for all of us, personally I get quite a
lot of motivation from FACEBOOK Yes it's true, but that's quite a
personal story I only share with my closest friends. "The clue is in the
word Face".

When I tell people I am running a
marathon the reply they give is quite often, WHY! or rather you than
me.
What they don't know is the amount of pleasure, excitement,
fulfillment, achievement, pride, and self esteem it gives you when you cross
the finish line. Although I am running for charity I am also running for
me!
If you are approaching 50 then take my advice and find your
motivation.

What will your motivator
be? Perhaps you are overweight and want to loose a few pounds? But what
happens when you reach that desired weight, what will your motivation be then?
My advice would be not to simply take up running to loose weight, but
take up running to give you a more active life. If you run to loose weight it
will simply become a chore. Enter a big event, one that attracts 1000's of
people, because I can bet you this.. there is nothing better that standing with
1000's of like minded people all with different stories as to why they are
running. All with a common goal when they finish and that is to do it all
again. I can almost guarantee that you will want to do it again, all you have
to do is find your motivation.
